Istria is the best region for olive oil in the world. It has been declared eight times by the world guide for olive oils “Flos Olei”.
This tour gives you an insight into the complete Istrian gastronomy (cheese, prosciutto, wines…) with an emphasis on olive oil.
Small city Vodnjan is the heart of olive oil story in Istria. The tour begins with a visit to one of the most famous istrian olive groves in Vodnjan, which guides you through the story of olives. It goes through the process of planting, harvesting, production and distribution.
Of course, several types of oil are tasted in combination with various istrian delicacies (cheese, prosciutto…).
After that, tour participants will go to the gastronomic center of Istria which is located in Pula, where a famous chef will prepare lunch or dinner for the participants.
In 3 courses and dessert, guests will try traditional istrian dishes (e.g. sea bass fillet, homemade pasta pljukanci with istrian ox beef boškarin…) which will be paired with the best istrian olive oil and wine.
HEAD CHEF
Deniz Zembo is one of the most famous chef in Croatia. Turning point in his carrer was stay in London, where he opened and managed own restaurant for years. He brought the molecular gastronomy first in Croatia with famous restaurant he managed “Le Mandrac”. He has cooked for many presidential delegations and recently had the opportunity to cook for the Pope and the Vatican. Deniz is loved by many for his relaxed attitude and humor.
